A Vision of Luxury and Comfort
Designed to be a haven of luxury and refinement, The BoTree Hotel required a lighting scheme that not only provided functionality but also enhanced the ambiance. This vision was expertly executed by the lighting designers behind the project, ensuring an exquisite balance of warmth, atmosphere, and visual appeal.
The BoTree Hotel in London, a collaboration by EPR Architects and DPA Lighting Consultancy, has undergone a sophisticated lighting transformation designed to enhance its luxurious ambiance. The project focused on creating a warm, inviting atmosphere that adapts seamlessly throughout the day and night. For this, Zico Lighting was selected to provide its innovative, energy-efficient lighting solutions, including their Dim-to-Warm LED range, known for delivering versatile and sustainable illumination.
The hotel's architectural lattice feature, crafted by EPR Architects, is a striking design element that gracefully twists up from the entrance, wrapping around the corner suite terraces and culminating at The BoTree Suite. To enhance this remarkable structure, warm white lighting was applied to highlight its bronze finish, with the flexibility to introduce dynamic colour changes for special occasions.
The Zico Lighting Difference
Zico Lighting supplied high-quality LED filament light bulbs, chosen for their superior dimming capabilities and warm, inviting glow. These bulbs were selected to complement The BoTree’s elegant interiors, offering:

- Energy-efficient performance without compromising on luxury
The Dim-to-Warm LED range by Zico Lighting proved ideal for The BoTree Hotel, offering a wide selection of styles like Candle, Golfball, GLS, and G95 Globe lamps. These LEDs gradually shift in colour temperature, moving from a bright, lively glow to a soft, warm light that mirrors natural lighting changes across the day. Available in finishes such as clear, frosted, or porcelain glass, and with multiple base cap options, the lighting solutions were tailored to harmonise with the hotel’s restaurant aesthetics, blending luxury with eco-conscious design.
Inside the hotel, meticulous attention was given to lighting in both private and public spaces. The guestrooms and suites, designed in collaboration with Concrete Amsterdam, feature bespoke headboards, custom makeup mirror lamps, and discreet accent lighting in wardrobes, minibars, and vanity areas to create a refined and intimate atmosphere.
The exterior façade of The BoTree also embraces a distinctive lighting approach. One side features dark London brick that plays with natural light during the day and a single light source at night, creating a dramatic interplay of light and shadow. By contrast, the white vertical stone details on the other façades are elegantly highlighted with up-lighting, enhancing the hotel’s architectural brilliance.
A Stunning Lighting Showcase
Beyond the guestrooms, the hotel’s food and beverage spaces also benefit from carefully curated lighting. LAVO, the sophisticated Italian restaurant, is bathed in warm, inviting light that complements the rich materials used throughout the interior. The plush booths are accentuated by a softly backlit feature wall adorned with lush greenery and decorative lighting. Meanwhile, The BoTree Bar, designed by Concrete Amsterdam, offers a vibrant ambiance, transitioning from day to night with a dynamic ceiling installation that shifts in colour. The teal marble bar, framed by illuminated bottles and curated artwork, becomes a focal point that enhances the overall sensory experience.
Through this collaboration, The BoTree Hotel’s lighting enhances the guest experience while embodying sustainable luxury, illustrating the perfect fusion of architectural vision and high-quality lighting innovation.
